Beware the company you keep

It's hard to see people for who they are. A lot of the time, we want to see the best in people. This can be a heavy burn when they're not who we thought. However, the contrary can also be challenging.

Having that foresight - or my BS detector as I like to call it - is a gift and a curse that I carry. Sometimes, I feel it would be easier to be naïve to the charms of others. But I know that could potentially hurt me in the long run.

A good thing to ask yourself is: what value does this person bring to my life? And then be honest with yourself about the answers.

We are only on this planet for a limited amount of time. Why waste that time surrounding yourself with people who are not adding positively to your cup? Being honest with yourself about others can be challenging. But it's a lot harder when you're not.

You've got to look out for the most important person in your life - YOU!
